Safety, Screening, Cleaning & Air Purification Protocols

We are committed to keeping our community as safe as possible.
LEARN ABOUT OUR extensive health & safety measures and how to prepare for your acupuncture session.

PATIENT & STAFF SCREENING
We ask that any patient experiencing any COVID or flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell) contact us right away to cancel their appointment. There will be no late cancellation fee. Patients are required to sign a health declaration and have their temperature taken with a contactless thermometer prior to entry. If a patient’s temperature is 100 or more degrees, we will cancel the session; if a practitioner has a temperature they will be required to go home.

24/7 AIR PURIFICATION
Every shared space and private treatment room is equipped with a new Molekule Air Purifier, which runs 24/7. Molekule uses its patented PECO technology that utilizes free radicals—the same radicals used to destroy cancer cells—to break down pollutants at a molecular level, including viruses, VOCs, bacteria, mold, and allergens. PECO is able to destroy pollutants 1000 times smaller than the standard filters must meet to qualify as HEPA. Additionally, our treatment rooms have huge windows, allowing us to air out the space in between patients.

LIMITED OFFICE CAPACITY
We are carefully limiting the number of individuals in the wellness center at all times so that at least six feet of social distancing is possible, and we are adding a 15 minute buffer between each appointment slot to limit capacity and for cleaning. Additionally, we ask that patients do not arrive early for their session and that no guests accompany patients to their appointments, unless approved by Prinz Acupuncture for a medical reason.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) & ARRIVAL
Face masks are required for everyone. Upon arrival, patients must wash their hands with soap and water and/or use hand sanitizer and will have their temperature taken. From there, we will bring you right into your treatment room to minimize interaction in the waiting room.

ENHANCED SANITATION MEASURES
We have implemented strict cleaning procedures to ensure surfaces and key touch-points are disinfected throughout the day and after each patient. All of the cleaning products we use are approved by the CDC and EPA as protective to Coronavirus (Sars-Cov-2). Between each appointment, rooms will be thoroughly disinfected, sheets will be changed, and all hard surfaces will be cleaned. Sadly, we have removed our cozy table heaters, because they cannot be cleaned between uses. Our practitioners have always washed and sanitized their hands before, during and after each patient interaction, as well as each hour, and this practice will be continued.

CLEANLINESS: AN ORIGINAL PRIORITY
We have always prided ourselves on creating an inviting, peaceful environment at Prinz Acupuncture— and part of what makes it an oasis for healing is that fact that it is always clean and safe. This is was the case even before COVID-19. Daily, our linens are laundered in hypoallergenic soap and at high temperatures to make sure they are fresh and completely contaminant-free. Our medical waste (mainly acupuncture needles) is always disposed of properly. Our practitioners always wash and sanitize their hands before and after each treatment, as well as each hour.

ACUPUNCTURE SAFETY
As a licensed acupuncturist, I am required by New York State to pass an exam in Clean Needle Technique. I studied these vital practices in graduate school and I have always applied them to every single patient interaction since earning my acupuncture license in 2012. This hasn’t changed with COVID-19. At Prinz Acupuncture I only use sterile, single-use acupuncture needles, which I dispose of safely as medical waste after each treatment. We always swab the body with alcohol before inserting a needle. Each treatment room is organized and clean, as you’d expect for any medical procedure.

EXTENSIVE TRAINING & STANDARDS
As a licensed acupuncturist who is truly dedicated to this medicine and to offering the best possible patient care, I hold myself to the highest standards. I hold a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and I am licensed by New York State. I have practiced acupuncture for almost a decade, and I take continuing education seriously and enthusiastically. I am continuously studying new advances in Chinese medicine, as well as innovative ways to integrate Chinese medicine with conventional medical treatment. As your practitioner, I put quality care, led by expertise and compassion, first.
